The Triton will deliver significantly improved air power effects to the joint battlespace.Summary
‘An unprecedented ability to collect multiple types of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance information over vast areas of ocean and coastal regions.’ That's the Northrop Grumann pitch for the MQ-4C Triton Unmanned Aerial System. Triton is a high altitude, long endurance aircraft equipped with sensors to satisfy multiple stakeholders for up to 24 hours. From Australia's maritime strategy perspective, this multi-role platform is a game changer. The full spectrum of operations will include combat, illegal fishing, border protection, search and rescue, humanitarian aid and disaster relief operations. Australia intends to procure seven Tritons, which should reach full operating capability by 2026. How do you envisage the Triton might be employed in the joint environment?
