Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) requires agile thinking and draws on real-time analysis for decision making. One reason why decentralised execution model favour MDO environments. Conceptionally it involves the fusion of all sensors across the battlespace. The fusion of sensors should allow commanders to create effects across multiple domains to overwhelm an adversary. Worth noting that the F-35 possesses advanced sensor fusion. The then Chief of Staff for the USAF, General Goldfein, has promoted MDO during his tenure. MDO command and control (MDC2) is a critical global challenge and Goldfein notes that it is not just about data; you must also understand how the different sensors work.
