Creating Trust and Confidence
This podcast is part of a series called a Dose of Leadership, produced by Richard Rierson, a leadership coach who has based this series on his experience as a US Marine Corps officer, business leader and pilot. Rierson suggests that leadership can be like a savings account - when you make a poor leadership decision dollars are taken out—but each time you make a good decision, only cents are put in. Noting trust and confidence within leadership are closely linked to character, he argues that leaders who are consistent, honest, disciplined and authentic tend to make for more effective leaders. He also suggests that leaders can develop and maintain trust by being competent and demonstrating characteristics that will help them to establish a connection with their equally trusted followers.
