Successful change is one of the significant challenges that organisations are likely to face. In Defence, the strategic imperative for constant change is relentless and has become accepted as the norm. Adapting to change can be difficult, and this article notes research that indicates that a lot of change initiatives fail—possibly because of poor leadership. The Centre for Creative Leadership, surveyed 275 executives of medium to large organisations and as a result of this research suggests three strategies to assist leaders in managing and leading effective organisational change.
