Every leader has the responsibility to develop their own leadership skills and also the leadership skills of their subordinates.

'Leadership is not just for leaders anymore'. The same can be said for gaining leadership inspiration - it isn't just found amongst those in uniform. As companies must find ways of developing leaders at all levels of the organisation so too must militaries. The continuing development of future leaders is a critical leadership concept in the military where every leader has the responsibility for the development of their subordinates. Goldsmith and Morgan conducted a study of organisations to ascertain if there were consistent principles of success underpinning leadership development programmes. Ranging from one-day interventions to internal and external coaching strategies, continuing interaction across the organisation was found to be a feature.
