BLUF

The ultra-low-cost modular radar seeker is designed to reduce guided-weapon costs. Successfully tested across multiple scenarios, the seeker could be used on missiles, bombs and interceptors, improving affordability and flexibility for future weapons systems.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain the role and function of active radar seekers in guided weapons and describe how Boeing's Ultra Low-Cost Seeker (ULCS) differs from traditional seeker technologies.
  • Assess the benefits of modular and open-architecture designs in defence systems, including their potential to increase interoperability and support multiple weapon platforms.
  • Evaluate the significance of testing and validation processes used in developing military technologies.
