Good conversation is a balanced, respectful exchange requiring practice, attentiveness, and sharing opinions. Avoid talking too much or too little, notice engagement, and use questions and empathy to build meaningful, enriching connections.

Learning Outcomes 

  • Explain the importance of mutual exchange, balance (avoiding over or under-talking), and respectful dialogue in meaningful conversations.
  • Demonstrate the use of questioning, empathy, and attentive listening to initiate and sustain engaging conversations.
  • Identify common conversational mistakes (e.g. one-sided talk, lack of engagement) and apply strategies to enhance connection.
