BLUF

The USAF integrated autonomous software into prototype Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) using MOSA (A-GRA), decoupling mission autonomy from hardware to prevent vendor lock, accelerate upgrades, and rapidly deploy algorithms across at least 1,000 CCAs.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain how A-GRA separates mission software from aircraft hardware.
  • Understand how a modular open-systems approach differs from traditional platform-based acquisition.
  • Outline how semi-autonomous “loyal wingman” drones change crewed–uncrewed teaming.
