The amount of effort expended to actively avoid engaging in PD is actually making your life harder. Engaging in PD improves one's overall wellbeing.Summary
You've completed your PME courses, your related trade/job training and the Campus mandatory training…now what? Air Force does not compel personnel to undertake additional study beyond these requirements, but does offer other learning options. Jeff Miller, of Learning and Organisational Effectiveness at Cornerstone on Demand, advocates that it is time to stop the excuses for not engaging in learning and development activities, both for management and the individual. In making the time and effort to undertake the learning, Miller cites research that determined employees who engage in learning regularly are 47% less likely to be stressed, 23% more ready to take on additional responsibilities, and 21% more likely to feel confident and happy. Learning can also increase workplace productivity, creativity, and morale. Defence invests heavily in the value of learning as a capability enabler. You can find more information on your options at the Defence Assistance Study Scheme (DASS) site.
