Ross Gittins writing in the Sydney Morning Herald, makes the following points regarding improving productivity:
- We need to improve the goods and services we produce
- Reduce workplace waste.
- Develop new goods and services.
- Service industries now account for about 80% of GDP, 40% of our export earnings and 90% of all employment.
- It's the service industries we need to make more productive without diminishing the service quality.
