Taking the initiative to do something about our underperformance can be evidence of a mature and professional attitude.

Summary

We know there are times when we are underperforming at work. It may be that we’re unsure of our objectives, or we might need further training, or lack motivation. Whatever the reason, it is important that we initiate a conversation with our supervisor so that we can address the issue/s sooner rather than later. It is better to be proactive and approach our manager before they approach us, and also before our performance is highlighted in a performance review. A positive approach shows the chain of command that we have a level of EQ and that we are committed to improving our performance and dedicated to meeting our objectives. Why do you think being honest with ourselves about our performance is a step in the right direction?
