Isreali Army employs inclusive measures to bolster their workforce and intellectual capability.

Summary

Roim Rachok in Hebrew means "seeing into the future." This elite unit is made up entirely of autistic teens. The unit's goal is to provide the Israeli military with highly skilled analysts while providing autistic teens with an opportunity to serve. The result is a win-win for organisational capability and the member. Several other countries are exploring this model to enhance cybersecurity and intelligence workforce capabilities such as the Netherlands, Singapore, and Australia with its Program Dandelion. Employing young adults on the spectrum in the Defence APS might provide not only a unique employment opportunity for suitable candidates, but also significantly enhance capability in roles requiring intense concentration and analysis for long periods. If Australia is to meet its strategic challenges in the region with enhanced military power as outlined in Defence's Strategic Update 2020, we must be looking at innovative solutions for manning those capabilities.
