Many leaders believe that employees do their best work when they are free to manage themselves; but responsibility without sufficient direction is not empowerment—it sets both managers and their teams up for failure.

  • Recognise that the fear of micromanagement prevents many leaders from providing the guidance and support their employees need.
  • Explore how leaders need to be more than just facilitators; employees must work within defined parameters, determined by others.
