  • Motivate subordinates.
Atkins also notes leaders and managers should avoid the following:
  • Providing only negative feedback.
  • Micromanaging staff.
  • Requesting too much feedback.
  • Being negative regarding new ideas.
  • Refusing to engage in difficult conversations.
