BLUF
The US Army plans up to 20 high energy laser systems (E HEL) to defeat small drone groups, including suicide drones. Systems will be mobile, stressing rapid, hard kill counter UAS ( Unmanned Aerial System) capability.Learning Outcomes
- Identify how E‑HEL capabilities could slot into Air Force/ ADF base and convoy air‑defence layers.
- Appraise sustainment needs including power, logistics, and limits for deployed laser systems.
- Examine tactics for joint laser employment with sensors, EW and kinetic shooters to counter drone swarms.
