Introversion and extraversion each offer unique strengths. Research suggests people can gradually increase extroverted behaviours to support goals, but personality change is most valuable when it helps build the relationships, opportunities and life they want.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain the characteristics of introversion and extraversion, recognising that both personality styles offer distinct strengths and preferences rather than one being superior to the other.
  • Describe how personality traits can change over time, including how intentionally adopting more extroverted behaviours may increase well-being and support goals.
  • Evaluate when increasing extraverted behaviours may be beneficial, and apply the concept of personality as a continuum to identify strategies that align with individual values and desired life outcomes.
