BLUF

Dutch researchers exposed major vulnerabilities in police, intelligence, and military radios where secure end-to-end encryption was weakened by reduced key lengths. The flaw allows eavesdropping, spoofed messages, and misinformation risks across sensitive global Defence communications.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Recognise how export controls and weak cryptographic standards can compromise Defence communication systems.
  • Evaluate operational risks of relying on proprietary or vendor-controlled encryption.
  • Apply lessons on redundancy and independent verification for secure ADF/RAAF communications architecture.
