BLUF

A machine-learning speech clock linked older-sounding speech with older-looking brains, faster-ageing DNA and weaker memory. The study suggests voice recordings could become a low-cost health indicator, but cannot yet predict individual decline.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain how speech patterns may reflect biological and cognitive ageing.
  • Consider possible Defence health-screening applications for speech analysis.
  • Differentiate population-level associations from reliable individual health predictions.
