TED Talk host Pat Mitchell speaks with Megan McArthur about space exploration, fear and parenthood.

Summary

Astronaut Megan McArthur has orbited the Earth 197 times and logged more than five million miles in space. In this Ted Talk, McArthur discusses how she prepares for her work and how she and her astronaut husband mentally prepare their son for the times his parents' blast off' into space. McArthur is an experienced astronaut who travelled to the International Space Station in April 2021 as part of the SpaceX Crew-2 mission. One of the most important things for her was preparing her son to ensure he enjoyed the experience of watching his parents launch into space and complete the missions for which they had trained.
