Research highlights that people under 35 are consistently more likely to endorse conspiratorial ideas. The consequences are that conspiratorial theories can undermine key democratic norms, weaken citizens’ trust in critical institutions and confuse interpretation of ADF mission.

  • Understand that younger people are more likely to believe conspiracy theories
  • Identify the factors which cause people to adopt conspiracy theories
  • Appreciate the link between conspiracy theories and the undermining of democratic norms
  • Develop PME strategies to assist younger people adopt a broader discourse towards democracy, politics and citizenship
