Many boys face severe academic, social, and mental health challenges. Male mentorship improves outcomes, but is scarce—especially in low-income families—with most mentors being women, despite evidence boys benefit more from male role models.

Learning Outcomes 

  • Explain the role and impact of male mentorship—both formal and informal—on improving educational, behavioural, and emotional outcomes for boys and young men.
  • Identify key developmental challenges faced by boys and young men during the transition to adulthood.
  • Analyse socioeconomic factors influencing access to male mentors.
