This article by Matthew Maniaci, writing for Medium, makes the following points:
- Millennials are generally considered born between 1980 and 1996-ish and are often subdivided with people born from 1980-1985 dubbed ‘geriatric Millennials’—or ‘Xennials.’
- Those born within five years of the ‘Gen Z’ marker are dubbed ‘Zennials’.
- There is no ‘standard-issue Boomer’.
- Some believe there are two distinct types—the Boomer and the ‘Generation Jones’ born between 1955 and 1965.
- Generation Jones is characterized as too young to have been hippies, often falling into either the ‘yuppie’ or ‘punk rocker’ group.
- In short, generations are not homogenous, and various factors can cause those within the same ‘generation’ to have vastly different attitudes and experiences.
