There are times when your emails can’t wait—such as when some urgent business is happening. But if your email reply isn’t time-critical, consider scheduling it for later—even if only 5-10 minutes later.

Summary

This article by Fast Company makes the following four points:
  1. It gives you time to change your mind. Using the Undo send feature only gives you a few seconds to realize you’ve sent the wrong information.
  2. You can work whatever hours you want. Flexible work hours sometimes mean working late at night. It’s not always good for people to know that, for several reasons (see full article).
  3. A delay might be the way to go—it’ll make the person feel you actually thought about your response.
  4. You’ll have less email stress. The end of the workday or just before the weekend is not when you want the recipient to see your email.
