The Gemini North telescope has filmed two galaxies slowly colliding—the same fate awaits our own Milky Way Galaxy in a few billion years.Summary

- Two spiral galaxies with centres about 20,000 light years apart slowly merge to form a single elliptical galaxy.
- It will take about 500 million years.
- They are about 60 million light-years from us, so we are safe!
