BLUF

Jindalee Over-the-horizon Radar Network (JORN) currently faces west and north only, leaving eastern maritime routes under-monitored. Ground-based radar could ensure constant monitoring of the South Pacific, now a contested region, and protect subsea cables.

Learning Outcomes

Strategic Awareness — Enhances understanding of Australia’s evolving regional risks and the need for balanced surveillance across all approaches.
Technological Literacy — Explains how ground-based radar complements airborne assets in contested airspace.
National Resilience — Shows how infrastructure like undersea cables and persistent monitoring supports decision-making security.
