The US Army will test its logistics capabilities during the biennial Australian exercise Talisman Sabre by quadrupling the amount of equipment moved across challenging terrain and over long distances.


Jen Judson writing in Defense News makes the following points about the upcoming Australian Talisman Sabre.
  • Exercise will prioritise logistics support in contested environments.
  • South Korea, Indonesia, and Japan will also be taking part.
  • The US Army’s 8th Theater Sustainment Command will set up in Brisbane (and be represented in Darwin and Townsville) in a joint coalition command.
  • Theater Distribution Centres are being set up in the Philippines and Australia, and the one in Japan is being reconfigured.
