The balance is tipping in professions traditionally male dominated. Baxter and Bodine-Baron from the Rand Corporation, make the point that women on panels and forums are often referred to as 'women experts'. Men are very rarely—if ever—referred to as 'male experts'. Nor is it a matter of being politically correct. The fact is bodies academic and commercial innovation research are emerging to demonstrate the direct relationship between women's abilities and perspectives and innovative outcomes. Hence, more women are on panels as experts sought out for their area of expertise and their ability to speak to it. The authors conclude that women need only be referred to as 'experts'.
