Art therapy can reveal trauma when words cannot. Effective recovery from traumatic brain injury requires coordinated, multidisciplinary care, with improvements in sleep, mood, and brain function playing a vital role in restoring wellbeing and hope.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain the role of art therapy and trust building in trauma recovery, including how non-verbal forms of expression can help individuals communicate experiences that are difficult to articulate.
  • Describe the effects of traumatic brain injury (TBI) on physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning, and recognise the importance of sleep as a key indicator of recovery.
  • Analyse the benefits of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation approach for blast-related injuries.
