Daily consumption by older adults is being linked to a modest reduction in the inflammatory potential of their diets. This suggests that replacing less healthy snacks with walnuts may improve overall diet quality.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain the relationship between daily walnut consumption and dietary inflammatory potential, as measured by the Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII).
  • Describe the key findings and limitations of the two-year walnut study.
  • Identify and apply practical ways to incorporate walnuts into everyday meals and snacks as a strategy to improve overall diet quality.
