With a population of 280 million, Indonesia is the world’s largest archipelagic state, has the world’s largest Muslim population and Southeast Asia’s largest economy. It’s a member of the G20 with a diverse economy based on natural resources (coal, palm oil, gas), manufacturing, agriculture, and a growing digital sector. 

It is a founding member of the Association of South East Nations (ASEAN) and the non-aligned movement.

Indonesia and Australia are close neighbours with a wide-ranging bilateral relationship, sharing a maritime border and deep economic, security, and people-to-people ties. Indonesia and Australia are committed to maintaining a stable, rules-based Indo-Pacific.
